Established in 1993, we were the first Freelance marketing recruitment agency in the UK. 18 years on and we’re now as well known for our permanent marketing recruitment service as we are our freelance offering.

We’re not your typical marketing recruitment agency and we don’t want you to have your ‘typical’ experience of marketing recruitment. In fact we’re so untypical that we have our own “Lord Sugar” running apprentice schemes; we have a unique and hardworking team designated to looking after candidates and we’ve spent almost two decades successfully finding people freelance and permanent marketing roles.

This year, our very own “Lord Sugar” called for graduates to take part in the Stopgap Apprentice – enter their own 60 second video or submit a creative application for a chance to win a 6 week internship with some great clients. Songs, poems, videos and fantastic ‘elevator pitches’ were just a few of the applications we received for this innovative scheme.

Our uniqueness doesn’t stop there! With a specialist team dedicated to looking after our candidates, we make sure that as many of our candidates are spoken to by a ‘real person’ and they’re there to speak to everyone, whether we can find them a job or not.

And it’s not just this team that makes us such a ‘positively different’ company. Stopgap have remained close to its roots of freelance marketing roles - we are often credited with 'creating freelance marketing in the UK'. This means that contract roles still play a pivotal part of Stopgap’s ethos and we’ve helped many candidates find a freelance role that meets their needs.

We might not fill every role, we might not find every candidate that registers with us a job - but in our hearts we wish we could. Virtually all of our consultants are ex-marketers, who've been motivated to join us because of our ethos and commitment to putting the candidate first. We have always believed that if you look after the candidates they will look after the clients by doing a brilliant job. In turn, the clients look after Stopgap by working with us time and again. We are a group of passionate people who are motivated to work in this industry because we genuinely care about people and the fact that we have the opportunity to make a positive difference to people's lives - may sound a little trite but it's true.
